Nestled in the rolling hills of East County San Diego, Asta Sourdough Microbakery is a small-batch sourdough microbakery dedicated to the art of naturally leavened bread. We're proud to bake with flour grown and milled right here in California- just the way it ought to be.
Each loaf is handcrafted and made with love. We honor slow fermentation and traditional techniques, allowing each dough to ferment for over 24 hours to unlock deep flavor, nourishing texture, and rustic beauty.
Rooted in a spirit of craft and community, our bakery draws inspiration from the raw, sunbaked landscapes around us. Every bake captures a moment in time — the wild yeasts of the season, the care of the hands that shape it, and the warmth of a hearth shared.
At Asta Sourdough Microbakery, we believe that good bread feeds more than just the body — it builds connection, slows the day, and brings people together around the simple, sustaining magic of the table.
This crust is rugged and proud, blistered by the heat, carrying the deep scent of woodsmoke and wild yeast. Inside, the crumb is open and soft, like torn clouds, full of rich, tangy flavor that speaks of slow mornings and honest work. It’s bread you tear with your hands, eat by the hearth, and savor with butter melting into every warm, perfect pocket.
Made with rich, golden butter, dark chocolate chunks, and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top, they strike the perfect balance between sweet and savory. Crisp at the edges, soft and gooey in the middle, and finished with a whisper of sea salt that brings out the deep cocoa notes, each bite is familiar but elevated.
